j u s t c r i m lets me explore emerging web based information tools that feed into and out of blogatecture ...
genesis : outreach to law faculty and students. since before the "way back machine" dawn of the web, academic research librarians have been contorting themselves to
share html research initiatives with famously disinterested teaching faculty ... [ this blog self-importantly follows in that rich tradition ] ...
sitting in an amazing capital punishment seminar @ law school [my professor was the best!], losing every last handout and paper syllabus and coursepack article the moment it came into my possession, ...
i thought it would be interesting and perhaps useful to build a simple cap_pun e-casebook architecture, using blog technology. u can't make faculty deploy technology [course ware exists, i know], but u can build the tech for yourself, ... [i'm thinking of emily dickinson's "letter to the world" here] ...
blog posts would drive course discussion [this is not a soap box blog - i have an overly simplistic position on cap_pun - abolish the damn thing, already! it's entirely monstrous and immoral, in my opinion. moreover, we waste far too many scarce resources trying to cause the equitable execution of a very, very, very few death sentenced human beings, monsters, or innocents ] ...
Posts would tie into truly great sources of hi-octane legal information ... [... i have broadened post scope to include information germane to academic law and criminology faculty, beyond cap_pun ].
the links were the thing -- here i could share links to every death_pen decision of the supreme court and research materials like published scholarly articles (SSRN) in an open access case book for death penalty jurisprudence ...
linking to the statutes, cases, and constitutional provisions your average law casebook repackages for approx $100.00 per.
so, i'll keep the cap_pun case tracking and casebook approach but you will find a range of posts, feeds, and links, in keeping with my curiosity and big picture approach to research support.
