SAN CLEMENTE – Deputies pulled a man from the cold water Monday evening after he jumped from a pier in an attempt to commit suicide, authorities said.
The 38-year-old San Clemente man was walking along the pier, saying that he was going to jump off at the edge of the pier to end his life, said Lt. Jim England of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
When the man reached the end, he jumped.
Deputies received a call at 6:04 p.m., England said. By that time, the man was in the water yelling for help...."
